Employee Spotlight: Sue Winkle

Say hello to Sue Winkle, Sales Coordinator in Muskogee, OK!

Sue originally hails from Moline, Illinois, but has been an Okie for more than 40 years! She said that she loves “the beautiful lakes, the scenery, and the people.”

 

Sue’s Tenure at Southern Material Handling and Hugg & Hall

As one of our transplants from Southern Material Handling Company, which Hugg & Hall purchased in 2022, Sue adapted quickly to the merger and made our team even stronger.

She started with Southern Material Handling in 1983, and has been with SMH and Hugg & Hall a combined total of 41 years!

“I was with SMH for 39 years before the acquisition. The switch was crazy in the beginning,  mostly because of all the increased activity & new processes I had to learn!

“It quickly improved once I realized I had so many people willing to help and answer any questions I had.  I work for a great team of Sales Coordinators & they treated me like family from the start!”

 

Sue’s Role as Sales Coordinator

As a Sales Coordinator, Sue works closely with salespeople to ensure they can fill customers’ orders. She said,

“I might have to order new equipment from one of our vendors, or initiate the transfer of in-stock equipment from another branch.

“I work with our Service and Parts departments to make sure each piece of equipment gets the pre-delivery items completed, and then I work with our Transportation team when it’s time to deliver the customer’s purchase.

“Most days are filled with juggling whatever is highest-priority at that moment, taking care of details, and getting my paperwork to the proper department. It can be stressful at times when we’re super busy, but most days are pretty manageable.

“I also love the people I work with! They are the most interesting part of my job.”

 

When we asked Sue what her favorite part of working at Hugg & Hall is, she cracked a joke about our annual National Ice Cream Day celebration!

She said, “can I say the free ice cream day is my favorite part of my job?” She laughed and followed up with, “Not really, I would say it has to be the way Hugg & Hall values their employees. They go out of their way to keep everyone safe and happy. Including giving us free ice cream!”

Sue’s favorite memory of working at Hugg & Hall is her first Halloween with the company. She dressed as Thelma Harper from Mama’s Family and won the Muskogee branch’s costume contest!

 

Outside of Work

When she’s not at Hugg & Hall, you can find Sue spending time with her sons and their families. She adores her grandchildren and dotes on them.

She said, “In my spare time, I enjoy making handmade jewelry and setting up as a vendor at local events. I also enjoy gardening and feeding & watching the bird life around this area.

 

Sue said, if she had to pick one word to describe herself, it would be “loyal.” Given her 41 years with SMH and Hugg & Hall, we’re very inclined to agree! Sue is an incredible Sales Coordinator and we’re very grateful she joined the Hugg & Hall team in 2022.
