Equipment Mechanic Spotlight: Geddy Langlois

Meet Geddy Langlois, Field Service Technician! Learn about how he became an equipment mechanic in Baton Rouge and joined our team in 2023!

 

A native of Leanna, Tennessee, Geddy has been living near Baton Rouge for about a decade and decided to stay in the area after graduating high school. He said, “I wanted to stay because of the wide variety of available jobs in many different fields.”

As a Field Service Tech, Geddy is a firsthand witness to various companies’ operations. He enjoys the relational parts of his job and getting to work on something new every day.

I travel to our customers’ sites, address any issues they are having with any equipment, order the needed parts, and complete the repairs in order of importance. The equipment we work on ranges in size from pallet jacks to large reach stackers.

The most interesting part of my job is the relationships I get to form with operators and customers, as well as getting to work on a variety of equipment that never fails to provide new opportunities for me to test my skills.

 

Geddy is approaching his second anniversary with Hugg & Hall and has appreciated the unique positive aspects of working for the H&H Service department.

My favorite thing about Hugg & Hall is our team’s attitude. It sounds cliche, but we really do seem like a family. Whenever somebody needs help, no one hesitates to jump in and help get the job done. We work hard to set each other up for success.

He also recalled his first H&H Thanksgiving celebration and considers it his favorite memory at Hugg & Hall. He said,

It was special seeing the whole branch come together and enjoy a meal with each other to celebrate the holidays. I had never experienced something like that, anywhere I’ve worked.

 

Outside of Hugg & Hall, you can find Geddy fishing, spending time with his family, or fishing with his family. He’s a creative person who even went to college for creative writing! He told us that the COVID-19 lockdown made him reassess and try to find something he really enjoyed. He said, “Eventually, I found Hugg & Hall.”

 

We’ll leave you with one last note from Geddy, who told us his favorite quote. (We love to know what our employees are reading, learning, and living by; it gives us a great sense of who they are as people.)

Geddy quoted Benjamin Franklin: “If we all think alike, no one is thinking.” He told us, “That quote encourages me to think outside of the box. Many times, there are multiple answers to a single problem; the best answer may be different from what everyone else is doing.”
