Vertical Mast Lifts

The thinner cousin of the scissor lift, this machine has a supporting mast and a basket. Most can drive at full height.

Vertical mast lifts can replace ladders and scaffolding on jobsites, which keeps employees safer.

If you need something resembling a scissor lift, you want the JLG 830P. If you need something that articulates like a boom lift, you need the Genie GR-26J. Both are great options, but the Genie is a little wider than the JLG, at 47″ vs. 29″, respectively.

Boom Lifts with Outriggers

One of the skinniest, yet most versatile, options in tight spaces.

Like scissor lifts, these machines are capable of fitting through standard-size doors, but they go a step further. They are usually articulated, allowing you to attack a job from any angle, and their outriggers make it possible for them to be built very narrow.

Both the Niftylift TD34TN and JLG Compact Crawlers are articulating booms that fit through tiny spaces. Our Rental and Sales teams can help you find a compact boom for your jobsite!

Earth-moving & Compaction Equipment for Tight Spaces

Skid Steers

Most people in the construction industry have used a skid steer at one point or another, so a skid steer is nothing new. That doesn’t change the fact that they’re a great option for compact spaces!

Skid steers have a very small turn radius, which makes them perfect for compact spaces when you’re doing earth-moving or compaction work.

Bobcat Company skid steers like this 1,950-lb capacity one are a great choice for your jobsite.

Mini Excavators

Another favorite on jobsites, the mini excavator can do much of what its cousin, the excavator, can do, but without taking up a lot of space. They range in capacity from 1-ton to 10-tons, which gives you a lot of options when choosing a mini ex.

If you do need a smaller machine with higher capacity, you may want to consider a Bobcat E88.

Material Handling Equipment for Tight Spaces

Stock Pickers

Most material handling equipment already isn’t huge compared to construction equipment. However, if you need compact material handling equipment, you have options.

If a forklift is too wide for your warehouse, consider a stock picker! Since they’re missing a cab, stock pickers save a lot more room than forklifts, making them easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

Hugg & Hall offers rentals and sales on electric stock pickers that can carry up to 3,000 lbs.

Material Lifts

If you need help moving materials but don’t need anything as high-capacity or high-reaching as a forklift or stock picker, a material lift will be the best option for you!

Material lifts have a reach of up to 25 ft and can easily move boxes and crates. They’re manually pushed around and cranked, so while they’re not a great option for a constantly bustling warehouse, they can help in a lot of lower-capacity situations.

Takeaways

Even in tight spaces, you have equipment options. Warehouses, construction sites, and more can benefit from the use of compact equipment.
